1. WHen ARE YOU OPEN?

    We are open all year - river levels and weather permitting.

  2. CAN WE TAKE A DOG?

    Yes. If the dog is large or very active it may make you a bit unstable.  When you pull over on the riverbank, please make sure dogs do not chase livestock and are kept close by.

  3. CAN WE CAMP ?

    Yes. The River Medway has many camping options on a two day trip.  Please click on the menu to left to see options available to you.

  4. I AM VERY LARGE WILL I FIT INTO A BUOYANCY AID/CANOE/KAYAK?

    Not usually a problem but we do limit participants to 18 stone maximum. We have buoyancy aids for all sizes. Phone and check with us if in doubt.

  5. HOW YOUNG?

    No children under 5 years old.  All children must be accompanied by an adult.

  6. WHERE CAN WE HAVE LUNCH?

    If doing a full days paddling to the either Yalding or Allington Lock, you can take a picnic and stop anywhere on the riverbank.

  7. DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE PROOF OF COMPETENCY FOR KAYAKING OR CANOEING?

    No. 90% of our customers have never canoed before.

  8. CAN YOU PROVIDE INSTRUCTION?

    Yes. We have a fully qualified team and can cater for groups of up to 30 participants.

  9. HOW MANY TO A CANOE?

    Ideally 2 adults. Middle seat for a child or small person or your kit if you are off on a long trip.

  10. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CANOE AND A KAYAK?

    A kayak is a small boat for one person only using a double ended paddle.  A canoe is a big open Canadian canoe, ideal for two to three people using a single ended paddle.  One person paddles at the back to do the steering and one person in the front.  A double kayak is ideal for an adult and a child.

  11. DO WE NEED TO BOOK?

    Yes.  We get very busy at weekends. It is best to book by phone, email or book online.

  12. WHAT IS IT BEST TO WEAR?

    Layers are good. Waterproofs, lightweight trousers or a wetsuit if kayaking.  Old shoes or trainers, ideally neoprene boots or water sandals.  Jeans are not recommended.  Bring a change of clothes and footwear for afterwards.

  13. DO WE TAKE A PHONE?

    Yes.  Ideally wrap it in plastic and put in a waterproof box before putting it in one of our barrels.

  14. WHAT DOES YOUR INSURANCE COVER?

    We have Public Liability Insurance, we also advise you to take out Personal Activity Insurance.

  15. IS ALCOHOL PERMITTED?

    Alcohol is not permitted whilst using canoes on the river for your own safety. Keep it for the end.

  16. DO YOU GIVE US A SAFETY TALK?

    Yes. You will be given a thorough health and safety briefing before you begin your trip.  This will include river route information, what to do in the event of an emergency or capsize and basics on how to paddle a canoe..

  17. DO YOU GIVE A GROUP DISCOUNT?

    Yes. We give a discount for schools, colleges and scouts .

  18. WHAT DOES THE HIRE CHARGE COVER?

    Canoe or kayak, buoyancy aids, waterproof  barrel, map and paddles.
